Chief Master Sgt. Jeffrey J. Trottier serves as the Superintendent of the 109th Airlift Wing’s Operations Group at Stratton Air National Guard Base, Scotia, New York. Stratton is home to the ski-equipped LC-130H cargo plane whose primary mission is to support National Science Foundation directed operations in the Arctic and Antarctica polar regions. Chief Trottier is the senior enlisted leader within the 109th Operations Group. He is the commander’s key enlisted advisor on operational effectiveness, training and equipping of enlisted Airmen. Chief Trottier is responsible for the professional development and proper utilization of the group’s enlisted force. He coordinates with other enlisted leaders and first sergeants within the Group to ensure readiness, training, health, morale, welfare and quality of life of Operations Group personnel are being met.
Chief Trottier enlisted in the active duty Air Force in 1980 and completed Radio Communications Analysis Specialist Training at Goodfellow Air Force Base, Texas. His first duty assignment was to the National Security Agency, Fort Meade, Maryland as a signals intelligence traffic analysis technician. After receiving an honorable discharge in 1984 he returned to his hometown of Hadley, New York, and worked 16 years in both hourly and salaried positions for International Paper Company Corinth, New York. Chief Trottier was also a Property and Casualty Fire Underwriter for State Farm insurance for six years. Chief Trottier joined the New York Air National Guard in February 1998 and earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Nyack College in 2000. Additionally, Chief Trottier served 18 years as Hadley Town Justice from 1988 to 2006. In 2007, he was elected as Hadley Town Supervisor and held a seat on the Saratoga County Board of Supervisors.
Prior to his current position, Chief Trottier was the Intelligence Superintendent with the 109th Operations Support Squadron, Stratton ANGB where he still maintains his mission qualifications. In 2002 Chief Trottier was mobilized in support of Operation NOBLE EAGLE to the Northeastern Air Defense Sector (NEADS), Rome, New York as an intelligence analyst. In August 2007, Chief Trottier was mobilized in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM and deployed to Joint Base Balad, Iraq. While there, he served as a non-lethal engagements analyst – western area of responsibility for the Combined Joint Special Operations Task Force – Arabian Peninsula (CJSOTF-AP). In 2009, he deployed to Joint Base Bagram, Afghanistan, in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM. He then deployed in 2010 in support of aerial refueling operations as the senior member of the 506th Expeditionary Air Refueling Squadron’s Intelligence shop, Andersen AFB, Guam. In January 2012, Chief Trottier was hand-picked by Headquarters Air Mobility Command to work at the AMC Standards and Evaluations shop A2FV at Scott AFB, Illinois.
